Meet the Alpha Stamps Design Team Blog Hop!

Meet the Alpha Stamps Design Team Blog Hop officially runs from June 7-10. See end of this post for links to the other members I am fortunate to work with!

The artwork I've highlighted in this post was created using new Collage Sheets
made for the Birds in Hats Swap at Alpha Stamps! (Click the graphic at right for
more information on the swap.)

As many of you know, I LOVE being a part of the Alpha Stamps Design Team!  I would never have guessed I would grow so much as an artist and one day be accepted to create art for such an amazing company. It is wonderful to not only be given amazing products, but to be challenged with what the owner, Leslie Elledge, has spinning in her mind.  It's like I live in her brain and try to create what it is that she desires.

It would be hard for me to define what my personal style is.  I seem to have a "Jekyll & Hyde" within that sometimes creates peaceful art, like what I make with my Marie Antoinette Group, and then on the flip side, creates dark art containing some odd vintage doll head or medical part. I get an idea in my head, and I just go with it.  And I seem to constantly be on the hunt for the odd and unusual thing to incorporate into my art.  It is something that I have a deep passion for and I could not imagine ever living without creating art.

Currently, I am working on some wonderful pieces with my Marie group.  I am working on a French pocket, a fabric folding heart, some altered books and have learned to make my own fabric flowers.  I also have some altered pieces that I am working on that contain some German doll heads and my new obsession, bones and taxidermy. I also want to create more "Botox" art with all of the Botox bottles that my neurologist has saved for me.  I get the injections for migraines and my journey with these horrible headaches has inspired some therapeutic art.  If one person can relate to that art and be touched by it, then I have accomplished great things.

Of course, I am always creating art for Alpha Stamps.  Recently, we were given the assignment to create art with a theme of Birds in Hats.  And thus it was so...

The above would be a patiently waiting Mamma bird on a warm summer day. I really love the new orange Forget Me Nots.

The back has a hat adorned British Robin, my absolute favorite bird.  They have such a cute personality and are smaller then their American relatives.

Mr. Turkey in his top hat is not very pleased with the tiny Robin at the door.  As you can see, he is inside of the Song Bird Club and only Song Birds can enter.  Look at that stud trying to pick up that sweat chick in the window.  I used some real tree bark on the coaster before I place the other goodies, like the hinged door and flowers.

The above coasters are being used in the newly listed Alpha Stamps swap, Birds in Hats.  If you visit the Yahoo group, you can sign up to play as well.  There are some wonderful new collage sheets (now sold as digital downloads as well) and products that are on sale just for this swap.

Leslie also sent us some wonderful chipboard birdhouse shapes.  I just had to use some of the new French General stuff on these.  I love the colors and it all just fell into place so well.  I used a small box to make a base and then cut the roof form some thicker cardboard.  Have you ever seen such an elegant bird within a bird house?

I also made some individual birdhouse shapes using some of my favorite vintage French ledger pages and lots of red Dresden trims from Alpha Stamps.  A girl that creates are can NEVER have too much Dresden in a variety of shapes and colors.

And if you continue reading, you will find out my plans for the above example.

I'm so happy that you came by that I am going to have a giveaway. But you have to leave a comment to be entered on this post and make sure that I have a way to contact you if you are the lucky winner.  Not only will the winner win the black bird example above, but I will also send you some of my favorite French ledger pages!  Sign ups end on June 10th and the winner will be announced on June 12th.

So now that you have paid me a visit, be sure to visit the other Design Team members to not only be inspired, but for a chance to win some of their artwork as well! Just follow the links below. And you can find even more inspiration in the Alpha Stamps Gallery!  Gotta love that Alpha Stamps!
