According to Webster's Dictionary, the meaning of quirky is to have many quirks that are unusual in especially interesting or appealing ways. To say I love quirky things is an understatement, which made this project especially appealing.
I needed a unique spot to show off my quirky things and this Half Scale Short Arc Top Facade along with a Half Scale Kitchen Cabinet was perfect. Especially with the addition of the new Gothic Arch Kitchen Cabinet Doors and Gothic Bookcase Overlay. My items are super small, so having this super small combination was fantastic.
After painting everything lightly with white paint, I added some of my favorite old Frech ledger pages cut with a zigzag edge. I then used a soft blue ink pad to give it a little color.
I am obsessed with acrylic paint markers. What a wonderful and convenient invention. I have many sets and they all have two tips, a paint brush type tip and a thin marker tip. It made an easy process to adding color to my many items, including these little brown field mice that keep guard over my treasures. The mice came in white, but with the markers I could make them any color I wanted.
I colored each one with a light brown marker, two or three times to make sure the mice were evenly covered.
My collection includes a pair of Metal Shoes with Louis Heel that were owned by the tallest woman in France. She had them colored into her signature soft pink with some lavender accents.
Do you see all of the lovely framed art? Another simple item to create using some Embossed Mini Antique Frame Stickers Set and images from the Half Scale Books & Things Collage Sheet. Simply place the frame sticker over the desired image, cut out, and done.
This Cast Metal Jack-The-In-Box Toy is a necessary and fabulous quirky item. It comes with two pieces so you can go all out with the acrylic markers.
Another quirky favorite is this Cast Metal Toy Airplane.
Once I had all of my quirky treasures prepared, I used a tad of liquid glue to attach them to the shelves. The final step was to add the Gothic Bookcase Facade and Cupboard Gothic Overlays in place and then added some cabinet "knobs" with an acrylic marker.
As always, I hope I have inspired your creative side today and I so appreciate you stopping by!
xoxo
