Altered Tins

I love seeing other artist's altered tins. When I first joined Marilyn at Unshelved Words for her seasonal altered tin swap, I was very nervous. If you look to the right under my swaps, you can see images of both my spring and summer tins that I made. I am very proud with how they turned out and thrilled that my swap partners loved them as well.

Above is the tin that I received. It was made by Marilyn herself and I was just so happy to have her as my swap buddy. If you visit her blog, you can see more work from the amazing artists that have participated thus far.

I adore button flowers, so I was extra excited when I opened it up and found these inside.

I would really like to teach myself how to make some of these lovelies, especially with all of the buttons that I have.

Even the back of her tin was beautiful. Thanks again Marilyn for hosting this grand event and I am really looking forward to making a tin for the fall.

One of my dear blogging friends, Kathy, at Vintage Snaps & Scraps is an amazing altered artists. I love her etsy shop and when I saw her post about this tin, I had to have it. It just spoke to me.

I especially love this button that is on the top of the tin. It is just so beautiful.

Kathy placed all of these wonderful old vintage items within the tin and it is one of my favorite purchases ever!

Imagine how thrilled, and how horrifically nervous I was when I found out Kathy would be my swap partner for the summer tin. I knew that I would absolutely love the tin I received from Kathy, but with her being such an amazing artists, I was even more nervous about her loving mine as well. I had put my heart into making it, but will admit that I did go over it with a fine tooth comb when I found out I would be sending it to Kathy. Luckily, she loved hers too.

Kathy included so many fantastic goodies for me with my tin. Please excuse the sideways appearance of my pictures, blogger isn't cooperating with me right now.

I love all of these wonderful items that I can use for my own altered art. Having some of Kathy's stash is a thrill.

I especially love the above Ava Maria charm. It was especially nice at the time, because I am Catholic and with my mom's recent breast cancer diagnosis, it was nice to have this little sign from Mary though my wonderful friend Kathy. I am going to add it to my favorite charm bracelet that I wear all of the time, that is all things french. If you have read my earlier posts, you know that I have a huge collection of charm bracelets. You will also know that I am obsessed with all things french. Any who.....

Kathy went way beyond with her summer tin creation. Oh my goodness, it is I N C R E D I B L E and I am especially thrilled that I was the receiver of such an amazing tin. She actually used a miniature cigar tin.

An escape is something I would love to have right now. This tin is gorgeous and an escape is exactly what it brings me. I can't even tell you how many times I have just held it in my hands and escaped right into it...

The inside is amazing as well. Look at those magnificent waves...

I can sit on this side with my little friend and enjoy the flight of the butterflies...

... or I can sit over hear with my beach bum girls and have a chat and a giggle (sorry again about the sideways picture).

You can click onto any of these images to make them larger and see even more beautiful detail. I love my tins!

Thanks again to Marilyn & Kathy for blessing me with your amazing work and your extra gifts as well. I look forward to doing even more with both of you!

Rhonda...
