My First Paper Doll

I've never created a paper doll before, so when I saw this swap from my Marie group, I decided to take the challenge. I'm really proud of how my doll turned out for my partner Lillian. I hope she loves it as well. If you would like to see the beautiful doll that Lillian made for me, be sure to click on her name above to go directly to her blog post.

The doll is double sided and is basically the same on both sides.

The bottom of the dress was all sewn by hand (except for the flowers). First, I sewed the lace onto the bottom of the dress and added some beads along with it for a little extra pizazz. I mean come on, it is Marie after all. Next, I sewed some larger pieces onto her skirt to add layers and drapes.

After I finished the skirt part of the dress, I glued them together and clipped it with clothes pins so it could dry good and tight.

More lace was added at the waist by gluing it to that part of the paper doll. The doll was layered with thick postcard type card stock to add strength to the doll.

Like I said in my last post, I am getting obsessed with sewing on lace and beads to my artwork. I'll be getting the sewing machine out soon and am determined to add it as another appendage to my body, along with my camera and computer.

Enjoy your day, thanks for visiting and a huge thanks to Rella for this fab swap and for helping me to grow as an artist!
