My Vintage Glue Book

I have always loved seeing peoples journals and altered books. It is something I have wanted to do for some time now, but never seem to know where to start or what to do. I signed up for an online workshop called "Your Vintage Gluebook" with Mary from Green Paper and have just loved it! It even came with over 24 pages of collage sheets containing wonderful ephemera and LOTS of detailed directions with images.

I am one who can never sit still. I have to be doing something, even while I am watching TV. When I travel, I always brings tons of stuff with me to do on the journey and while I am away. It just makes me happy. Last weekend, I went to spend a couple of nights with my best friend from high school. The only project I brought with me was this one. I have an old ledger from 1894 that contains beautifully aged papers. I can't read a thing that it says and decided to use it, even though it is over 100 years old. Next, I brought a large zip lock bag full of collage sheets, paper scraps, a glue stick and a pair of scissors. That was it, and I had a blast. I was able to work in the car, work while my friend was in the shower, and have the satisfaction of creating some art in a short amount of time.

I love this project and am ready to create even more pages. I also want to use this technique some for another altered ledger I am creating with an ephemera swap with my Marie group. Another good thing about this craft is that since it is so easy to do, I can take it with me while my girls are out on the trampoline or on the slip-n-slide. You know how busy summers can be. This allows me to take my "me time" with me. Cause you know the saying, "If Mama ain't happy, nobody is happy". Creating art makes me happy. And my girls can do it as well.

Thanks for this great workshop Mary! Be sure to check out her site if you are interested. There is still plenty of time to play! Enjoy your day!

Oh Rhonda, what a wonderful ledger to work in and I love what you have done on your pages. And such fun to meet you on this course instead of our usual Marie Antoinette Group! Love the way my cursor changes into an Eiffel Tower, by the way. How on earth did you achieve that?

The old ledger is perfect for your gluebook. It gives you an instant background for your pages.
Mary's class is incredible and I have to admit that I am addicted to gluebooks! See ya in class!!
