Awesome Day In More Ways Then One

Today my mom had her last treatment! Yippee! She is so happy and called me this morning ready to go out and celebrate, even though she feels like complete crap. She is just so happy to be done and will need to go and get checked out in a month, but hopefully this battle with cancer has more or less come to an end. I am just in tears and so very proud of her. She has just done so well and stayed so positive. Her biggest concern through all of this was being able to talk to the other patients who were even sicker and give them some positive energy.

So, here is the funny coincidence, although I don't believe in coincidences. Today is my Gram-ma Betty's birthday. Those of you who know me, know how much I love and miss my Gram-ma. We were SO close and our last words to each other were "I love you" after she met and held my youngest daughter. I have mentioned her several times here on my blog. Well, this is my mom's mom. Tell me that this isn't a sign that she is watching over her. It is like her own little gift to mom, that she is now done with her treatments. She still has a long road ahead for her body to heal, but she WILL be okay and her mom is watching over her.

Happy Birthday Gram-ma Betty! Words could never tell you how much I love you and what you meant to me. I miss you so much and will always have this empty spot in my heart, now that you are gone, but I know you watch over me and my family. Thank you for all that you did for me and for all of the happy memories!
Thank you also to all of you who have kept mom in your prayers and have sent her cards and gifts. It really helped her during this time and it is thanks to all of you that she made it through this ordeal. God bless you all!
Have a great day everyone. I am off to celebrate with mom. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT EARLY DETECTION IS THE KEY TO SURVIVING BREAST CANCER! If my mom had not had her mammogram, she would have NEVER known that this tiny spot that she could not feel through self exam was in her breast and who knows how bad her cancer would be. It was so close to her chest wall, but luckily she was smart and had her exam. I had my first one too, and it was no big deal. These women see breast every single day and there is no need to feel uncomfortable. And if you think that because you have small breast, like me, you are crazy to think you don't need a mammogram. These cancerous spots can be so tiny that you would never feel them, not even if you were the flattest girl on the planet. Please, if you are reading this, it is for a reason. Again, I don't believe in coincidences. Get checked!

Best wishes to your mom!! My mom has been going through this junk for 8 years. She is now having heart problems from the chemo so they took her off that since the cancer has been "dormant" for a few years. I'll pray for your mom if you add my mom to your prayers!! (even if you don't she is on my list)

I am happy to read that your mom has had her last treatment !! ;o)
Great news for all of you and she can concentrate on getting through the side effects and well once more . i hope that your mom gave some hope to someone else who she chatted to - thinking of others while she was there - that`s heart warming in giving them support as well .

Someone is always watching over us .. i`m sure your mom`s - mom is !

xx
